Na veel overleg met mijn KNO arts, hebben we het besluit moeten nemen om ook de komende 3 weken nog volledig te stoppen met zingen. Dit om zeker te weten dat ik eind mei weer helemaal hersteld ben.

Dit betekent dat ik niet mee kan doen aan de concerten van Marco Borsato. Het was een grote schok om dit nieuws te vernemen en ik baal er enorm van dat ik niet met één van mijn grote helden kan zingen.

Marco is super lief geweest toen ik hem dit vervelende nieuws vertelde en hij begrijpt de situatie gelukkig volledig. Ik wens hem een fantastische reeks concerten toe en weet zeker dat het een enorm succes wordt!

Ik kijk er naar uit om eind mei weer te kunnen spelen en doe er alles aan om weer volledig bij stem te zijn. Tot snel!

After being advised by my ENT doctor to continue on full vocal rest for the next 3 weeks, I am sad to announce I'm going to have to cancel the upcoming guest appearances with Marco Borsato in The Netherlands as well as my shows during the Great Escape festival.

I want to be completely ready to work again at the end of May so need to take this precaution seriously. I'm so sad to not be able to be a part of these shows but I know that ultimately my priority has to be full vocal recovery and that requires making some sacrifices.

Im really looking forward to getting back to work in a few weeks and can't wait to get back out there and playing for you!

Hey buddies. Crappy news. Upon the advise of my voice doctor I'm going to have to cancel my upcoming US shows. I hate canceling more than anything in the whole world but I need to heal up and get my vocal chords back. I'll be back in your hood soon and hope you understand how badly I feel. Finishing up the next few shows in Holland and then taking a mini break to get better...I still love you to pieces though :)

Friends! Romans! Country men!

I am thrilled to announce the North American release of my album, Bells. It has been a long and wonderful journey and its amazing to be able to share it with you. Thanks to all of you who have come out to shows and sent your support and smiles my way. You are the reason I love doing what I do.

Laura Jansen: shows SXSW 2011 & headline shows US

AOL Popeater joins USA Today and LA Times Pop & Hiss in a chorus of praise for dreamy LA-based songstress Laura Jansen and her US debut 'Bells,' out March 22 on Decca Records, recommending Jansen "for fans of Regina Spektor." USA Today says on lead single "Single Girls" that "heartbreak manifests itself many ways," while the LA Times says "anchored by little more than piano and Jansen's nimble slip of a voice, 'Single Girls' evocatively captures the first delicate steps into the unknown of singlehood."

Those headed to Austin, TX for SXSW have 6 chances to see Jansen, including an in-store performance at the beloved Waterloo Records.

LAURA JANSEN POISED FOR 2011 BREAKOUT

Laura Jansen is primed to break out in 2011 with her US debut album Bells, a breathtaking collection of dreamy, piano-based alt-pop songs, out March 22 on Decca Records. Born in the Netherlands to a family constantly on the move, the LA-based Jansen spent her teens moving around Europe and the US. That sense of longing for connection and a hunt for home, along with a Christmas Day end to a rocky relationship, deeply affects the Hotel Café mainstay's music.

In early 2011, Jansen will tour with Joshua Radin and Cary Brothers, make a stop at SXSW and head out on the Hotel Café tour later in the year. This is Jansen's second tour with Radin, who fell in love with her music after seeing her play the Hotel Café, the LA hotbed and musical incubator. Laura was even invited to perform with Joshua at Ellen DeGeneres' wedding. Jansen's touring partners have also included Ingrid Michaelson and William Fitzsimmons.

Bells, already platinum in Jansen's native Holland, is a layered confection of piano melodies and pristine vocals, with all songs written by Jansen except for a stunning, bare-bones cover of Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody," which has spent over a year in the top regions of the Dutch singles chart. "Single Girls," the album's emotionally loaded first single, is a breathy, delicate pop metaphor for the devastation of getting your heart smashed to pieces. Title track "Bells," inspired by the homesickness felt after a real-life breakup and the pealing of church bells, is a pure outpouring of sweetness and grief. But it's not all songs of woe. At the other end of the spectrum, the playful, wily "Wicked World" transforms seemingly innocent fairy tales into stories of wanton naughtiness and urges listeners to let down their hair to its ragtime beat.
